Cape Town, South Africa is a stunning coastal city framed by Table Mountain, a famous plateau that resembles a tabletop, and gorgeous natural scenery heightened by its location between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. In Cape Town, volunteers will work at a local animal shelter in the Grassy Park community catering to cats and dogs that have been neglected, abandoned or lost. Volunteers will help run the shelter, care for abandoned animals, and help with the animals’ medications and injections. Additionally, volunteers will assist with animal cleaning and feeding to gain animal care experience. This program is based in Muizenberg, a beautiful coastal town with excellent surfing, a 30 minute drive from Cape Town and 15 minute drive from the animal shelter. On weekends, volunteers can explore Cape Town or other areas in South Africa to see unusual wildlife such as antelopes and penguins, visit the spot where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned or go on safari.
