Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires is vibrant and cosmopolitan, filled with elaborate 19th-century buildings and towering skyscrapers. However, the city also suffers from extreme wealth disparity, with most community projects in its low-income areas run by charities that rely on volunteers and donations. Volunteers will help local teams maintain and renovate community spaces, such as schools and soup kitchens, to make the city’s public buildings safer, more functional, and more attractive. Tasks for volunteers include painting, repairing furniture and equipment, tiling, gardening, and building internal walls and bathrooms. Volunteers will work for a minimum of 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday. On the weekends, volunteers can explore the cultural sites of Buenos Aires, hit the dance floor and learn to tango, or experience Iguazu Falls, a colossal waterfall on the border between Argentina and Brazil.
This minimum 1-week and maximum 12-week experience costs $490 per person for one week. The trip is led by IVHQ, a volunteer travel company with 338 projects in 50 countries, rated #1 Volunteer Travel Company by Go Overseas 7 years in a row. It is a cost-effective option with some programs as low as $20 per day with accommodation and meals included. They are a Certified B Corporation, 100% carbon neutral and every project aligns with a UN Sustainable Development Goal.
