Morocco: Sahara Sands, Markets, and a Feast for the Senses

This all-women trip to Morocco is perfect for travelers who love a mix of authentic cultural experiences and excursions to beautiful landscapes off the beaten path. The group begins in Rabat, Morocco’s scenic capital city, which sits on Morocco’s west coast and is known for its UNESCO-listed historic center. Travelers will walk through the city’s 12th century Moroccan architecture of Kasbah Oudaya as they explore. After traveling through the forested Rif Mountains, the group will make their next stop in the famous blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen. Mountain views, traditional Moroccan food, and an optional visit to relaxing hammam bath experience make this the perfect stop to unwind. Travelers visit the Roman ruins at Volubilis next, where they’ll see the well-preserved archways and mosaics of what was once a major Roman outpost. A wine tasting at a local vineyard and tour of one of Morocco’s historic imperial cities, Meknes, finish this day of cultural exploration off.

Next, the winding alleyways of Morocco’s cultural capital and the Karaouine Mosque, which dates back to 859 CE in the Islamic Golden Age, are sure to charm the group. While in Fes, travelers will also enjoy traditional cuisine, learning about the city’s leather-working and blue ceramics, and an optional workshop in cooking or pottery. The group will get to meet the women of a local cooperative crafting traditional djellaba robes and other knitted clothes before a scenic drive through the Atlas Cedar forest stopping at a lakeside retreat. Continuing on to Southern Morocco, the group will make stops along the way in the stunning, red sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and the desert in Merzouga. There they will experience private luxury camping, camel rides, and taking in the sunrise over the dunes. Visitors will make a few more scenic stops in the desert and Atlas Mountains at the limestone Todgha Gorge, Berber villages, and a women’s group that provides education to locals. The group’s last stop in Marrakech is the perfect way to end the trip with visits to the Djemaa el Fna Square market place, Majorelle botanical gardens, and indulging in spa treatments before returning home.

Baja: Whale Watching and the Sea of Cortez

Enjoy the perfect mix of wildlife adventure and coastal relaxation on this group trip to Baja. Travelers will begin with a scenic cruise to their beach camp on Isla Espíritu Santo, a UNESCO-listed uninhabited island famous for its turquoise waters and marine life. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming will be the perfect way to soak in the scenery before group drinks and dinner at sunset. One of the highlights of the trip will begin the next morning when the group goes snorkeling with Isla Espíritu Santo’s very own sea lion colony. Hike the Camino in Spain

Embark on a transformative journey with AdventureWomen to hike the final 71.5 miles of the Portuguese Way on Spain’s famed Camino de Santiago. This women-only adventure begins in the historic town of Tui in Galicia, Spain, and leads the traveler through rolling countryside, charming medieval villages, and vibrant towns such as Pontevedra and Padron. Pontevedra, brimming with old-town vibes, sustainable lifestyles, and extremely high walkability, is also home to the Church of the Pilgrim Virgin, uniquely shaped like a seashell. Padrón, known for its scenic riverside location, is native to Padrón peppers, small edible green peppers that are mostly mild, but sometimes hit with a surprise spice. Legend also has it that the city is connected to St. James, as the body of James was brought by boat from Jerusalem. Along the way, explore ancient roads, centuries-old churches, and local traditions while enjoying regional cuisines and the camaraderie of fellow travelers. Designed for active women, this trip requires good physical fitness, with daily hikes of 10-15 miles over varied terrain, including forest paths and cobbled streets.
