Each moment spent here is like stepping through the pages of a vividly illustrated storybook, where every corner promises a new adventure. As a photographer, this country renders me speechless; the stunning architecture, vibrant markets and kaleidoscope of colors are truly a feast for the senses.
My journeys have taken me from the aromatic souks, where the air is perfumed with an array of spices, to the serene vastness of the Sahara. Riding camels deep into the desert, I gazed at a sky so filled with stars it felt like I could reach out and touch them.
In the Blue City of Chefchaouen, located in the Rif Mountains, the buildings bathed in every shade of azure create a surreal dreamscape. Theories abound about why blue was chosen: some say it’s to keep mosquitoes away, others believe it represents the sky or water and some think it might have been inspired by the Jewish locals fleeing the Spanish Inquisition, symbolizing the sky and heaven.
Another unforgettable destination is Fes with its medieval medina, a sprawling labyrinth that feels like a portal to another time. The medina's ancient walls enclose a bustling life where donkey carts navigate narrow alleyways alongside modern-day visitors. The chaos of the marketplaces, with their myriad of sounds, smells and sights, blends into a harmonious existence that captivates the soul. Without a guide, one might find oneself endlessly wandering, lost in its beauty and complexity.
Traveling through Morocco is not just about capturing images; it's about capturing moments. Amid the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, the changing patterns of dunes and the ancient stories told by the Berber people, there is a palpable sense of history and tradition. These experiences are woven together into a rich tapestry that illustrates the diverse heritage of this land, nestled between Spain, Africa and the Middle East.
