Just outside the southern wall of Kibera, the largest urban slum in Africa, is Sadili Oval Sports Academy. Meaning "well-being" in Swahili," Sadili is a social enterprise that uses sports as a means to reach out to children and young people in need - both in the slums and from across East Africa. "Dirt Court Dreams" centers on Flo - a Kibera resident and tennis coach - and reflects how Sadili has made her life better and through her has, and is, improving the lives of many others. For more information on Sadili visit http://www.sadili.com This video was produced on location by an Actuality Media student crew and shot primarily with a Canon XA10. Producer: Daniel Karnafel Director: Cassandra Heikkila Cinematographer: Michael Kuba Editor: Dean Jacobson Actuality Media is on the ground with every student crew to oversee production of these short documentaries, providing the services of executive producer, production manager, location scout, additional editing, and whatever else is needed to complete the project. We are more than a film study abroad program. Actuality Media is a service learning organization that takes students and young professionals abroad to create media on changemakers in developing communities around the world. Our films spread the word about nonprofits, NGOs and social entrepreneurs who are implementing innovative, new ideas to combat chronic social problems.
