August 30, 2020

As the nexus between Europe and Asia and the former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, Istanbul is home to a vast array of global cuisine and culture. On this trip, Atlas Obscura, a travel collective, offers the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical backgrounds of a wide range of cuisines. Examining the city of Istanbul through restaurants, tea shops, and kitchens, you will learn about the extensive cultures that make Istanbul such a vibrant and exciting city. Partnering with Culinary Backstreets, travelers will explore food systems on both sides of the Bosphorus strait, eating in both Asia and Europe throughout the trip. With an emphasis on a local perspective, Atlas Obscura works to integrate travelers into the true nature of Istanbul’s expansive culinary scene.

Atlas Obscura is a creative company that specializes in travel journalism about hidden places. They also offer tours and workshops all around the world that give travelers unique experiences. They lead small groups of travelers around remarkable and unusual places that may be secret from everyday tourist destinations. Starting at ($X) per person, this experience lasts over the course of (X) days. Transportation between destinations, accommodations throughout the trip, meals listed in the itinerary, admission to activities, and most gratuities as listed in the itinerary are included in this trip.
